Principal's Message

Principal Jane Ocanas Photo

Ms. Jane Ocanas is a visionary, student-centered leader with over 22 years of experience in education, including ten years as a principal, one year as a secondary ELA director, and prior roles as an assistant principal and bilingual teacher. Most recently, she served two years as Executive Director of Instruction in Houston ISD. Throughout her career, she has led transformational efforts across PK–12th grade, turning around underperforming campuses and driving academic growth through a relentless focus on instructional excellence, equity, a culture of high expectations, and meaningful community partnerships.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, Ms. Ocanas is deeply committed to fostering inclusive, high-performing school environments where every student is seen, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in General Business and a Minor in Computer Information Systems from the University of Houston–Downtown, a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Lamar University, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Grand Canyon University.

Ms. Ocanas is honored to join the Stevenson Middle School community and looks forward to working with students, families, staff, and partners to build on the school’s legacy and continue its journey of excellence.
